Aside from her professional accomplishments, Linda is also known as the widow of saxophone legend James Moody. Mr. Moody was a jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer. Linda met Moody when he was performing at a jazz club in San Diego in November 1988. They fell in love and got married on April 3,1989. They had a deeply devoted and loving relationship that lasted until Moody’s death from pancreatic cancer on December 9, 2010.


Linda Moody’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond her work as a real estate agent. Linda not only worked tirelessly to raise money for Seattle Children’s Hospital then delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years after moving to San Diego, but she is also the founder of the James Moody Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit organization that supports young jazz musicians in their pursuit of music education.


The James Moody Scholarship Fund provides a $10,000 award to support qualified students since 2011 in New Jersey and is associated with Jazz House Kids, and since 2005 at Purchase College, NY, both of which help to cover tuition for college music education. The fund’s mission is to nurture and develop the next generation of jazz musicians, ensuring that their talent and creativity can flourish.


Linda’s commitment to the James Moody Scholarship Fund is rooted in her deep respect for her husband’s legacy and the importance of jazz music as an art form. Through the scholarship fund, Linda aims to provide opportunities for young musicians to pursue their dreams and to keep the spirit of jazz alive. The James Moody Scholarship Fund has already made a significant impact in the lives of many young musicians. Since its inception at Purchase College in 2005 and in New Jersey in 2011, the Moody scholarships have supported a great many students in their music education. Many of whom have thriving careers as working musicians.


Another passion of Linda’s is that she and the select committee since 1993 have worked relentlessly to try to help the International Jazz Hall of Fame come alive. Linda is passionate about preserving the music and it’s legacy.


In 2011 the TD James Moody Jazz Festival was created. The festival is now considered one of the foremost Jazz Festivals in the country and it is held every November at the beautiful NJPAC in Newark, NJ where James Moody was raised.


In her spare time Linda enjoys being with her large family of 3 sons, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and lots of extended family and friends.
